This briefing will look at the role of standards in driving awareness and behaviours in resilience. There has been considerable growth in the development of standards in recent times. The first British Standard on Organisational Resilience (BS 65000) was introduced in 2014. This was followed in 2017 by an International Standard (ISO 22316) on the same topic while a new City Resilience Standard (BS 67000) is due out imminently. Separately, the Civil Contingencies Secretariat at the Cabinet Office has prepared a range of standards on resilience for the public sector. Hence, it is a timely moment to take stock with the help of presentations from key experts in the subject.
Speakers:
Dr Rob MacFarlane, Head, UK Resilience Training, Doctrine and Standards, and Deputy Director, Civil Contingencies Secretariat, National Security Secretariat, Cabinet Office
Caroline Field, Head of Resilience (Europe), Thornton Tomasetti / Committee Chair British Standard for City Resilience (BS 67000)
