People are at the forefront in this battle with the Coronavirus. They are understandably worried and anxious for their jobs, their families and themselves. At such a time, leadership has the opportunity also to come to the fore. It is necessary more than ever to give people hope, motivation and direction in challenging times. This is especially true when teams and individuals are dispersed, often working from home, without regular contact with colleagues and managers are unable to convey that corporate spirit and collective engagement.
Hence, it is appropriate that Resilience First’s members hear from top business leaders on how they have chosen to exert their leadership skills in a crisis, what barriers they have encountered and what aides they have deployed. At the same time, it is an opportunity to hear from a leading academic on what he has observed in the ways that business leaders have responded to the pandemic and what they say about the skills we may still have to hone.
