How can you create a climate resilient city?

Climate resilience is firmly on the London Climate Action Week agenda, serving as one of the central themes for the week. As part of our programme on climate resilience, we are delighted to invite you to Resilience First’s headline event of the week: a networking reception and event focused on how business and other essential parts of a city can help create a climate resilient city.

The event will focus on the actions the private sector can take independently and in collaboration with the other actors needed to build resilience: government, civil society groups and local service providers. How can they take action, help scale action and better inform government decision making on resilience? It will also cover what a new UK government can do to accelerate climate resilience decision making and implementation.

We will explore the key findings from the interim London Climate Resilience Report, with a thoughtful and lively discussion between two leaders on climate action: the report’s Chair, Emma Howard-Boyd CBE and Arup’s Global Director of Sustainable Development, Jo da Silva.

The London Climate Resilience Review is a first of its kind for a UK city. It represents a step forward in the recognition of climate resilience as a risk to the operation of a city and as a short and long-term risk for the residents of London and the UK. The findings – and lessons learnt on how to conduct a climate resilience review – can be applied to other cities around the world.
