Tobias has been the elected MP for Bournemouth East since May 2005. He has held numerous security and international affairs roles, including as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office with special responsibility for the Middle East and Africa and Parliamentary under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence. Tobias was the elected Chair of the House of Commons Defence Select Committee from January 2020 to September 2023.
